Heart-shaped jam cookies with marshmallow hot chocolate

It’s cold and dreary outside. Come in for some cuddly fun with blanket forts, heart-art, your favorite stuffed toy, and more.  Sweet Snuggles is especially fun because it highlights family bonding as well as child exploration and independent skills.

This is our best event for our very small clients. Babies who aren’t ready for much moving around, can get a lot of enrichment from grasping, reaching, and feeling various sensory objects.  Swaddling, “Baby Burrito”, rolling, and tummy time opportunities are abundant both in a blanket fort and out. Caregivers can practice talking to Baby, repeating simple words to encourage language recognition, and share the never-ending joy of Peek-a-Boo.

For our crawlers and toddlers, there are several stations to interact with. As with all our events, Sweet Snuggles provides opportunities to develop many skills in all areas of early learning. In particular, this event is great for sensory exploration and language development. There are ribbons with many different textures to feel and describe, warm and cold bean bags with baby sign language prompts, and a blanket fort which, among other things, is great for going and saying “in”, “out”, “around”, “under”, and other directional words/concepts.

Other stations include:

Our felt wall, where children can creatively or realistically decorate teddy bear cutouts. Storytime opportunities – in the blanket fort with some shadow play options – and out of the fort, where we get to move along with our teddy bears.

A take-home art project that is often Valentine’s themed.

Our snack is centered around a healthy banana cookie that is as fun to make at home as it is to eat with friends during the event.

Typically, this playdate is scheduled for late January to early February. Ask your ABC teacher(s) for more specifics at the beginning of the year.
